Giving Is Better Than Receiving

Since it's Christmas, why not give.

Have you heard of the saying “it’s better to give than to receive”? Do you think it is really true? Many transcendental leaders believe in the importance of giving. Mahatma Gandhi once said “the best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others”. Serving others or giving is a fulfilling activity that allows you to understand that you are never defined by an identity but by your actions, sympathy, and the like.

What is your thought on giving? Why do you give or why do you think others give? Is it the satisfaction that comes after? Or the opportunity to provide a change to someone’s life? Maybe it is the very fact that giving is important and here is why we think giving is important, and these are the exact reasons you could consider throwing yourself into it.

  1. Giving helps others

Many of us are blessed as we are able to live a reasonably comfortable life and that means we have the ability to give. When you give to the less fortunate, you add more to their lives, and by doing so, you add some to your lives as well. Giving is never a zero sum game; the more you give, the more you receive. For instance, seeing the smiles and faces of gratitude and satisfaction on the faces you’ve helped makes the act of giving worthwhile.

Did you know that no matter how small or little you give, you have the same power to touch the life of others and affect them in ways you can never imagine. If you can, make the lives of the less fortunate better. Many think what they can offer to others is negligible but that's not true, whatever you have decided to give, know that it is enough and both the giver and you will be cheerful. Know that a generous heart like yours can be your own path to real happiness and satisfaction.

  1. Giving is the secret to living

What do you think life is about? Some say it is about finding meaning, so how do one find meaning in life? Finding the meaning in life is never just about you and what you do to yourself, it is about how you are able to improve the lives of others around you be it your loved ones, those in the community.

The beauty of giving is that giving itself is its own gift. This December, Swapie is having 2 campaigns - blood pressure monitors for underprivileged senior citizens and school bags for lower-income children. It will mean alot to our beneficiaries this Christmas if they can receive these items from YOU! Find out more at
